Jan Stawasz Moje Robotki 8/2007 Huge Doily tat-along Row 10 and 11

It is hard to believe I did this myself. I have only been tatting for a few years and would never have thought that I could get this far on such a big project. I am feeling quite accomplished but am reminded that there are still another seven rows before completion.

While ironing, I found one of the inner mofits had come undone so I needed to retat part of it. Painful task but needed to be done.

I am using Aida 10, ecru and the doily currently measures 27 inches or 69 cm. It is sitting flat and I have just given it a steam and slight press with the iron.

I have two of Jan Stawasz books and tatted a few other of his doilies. This pattern is from Moje Robotki 8/2007.

On to row 12.....

  1. Very pretty & you can be justifiably proud :-)
With 7 more rounds to do, this could well tat up to a table cloth size. Wow! It will look amazing !

    1. Thanks Muskaan, its been just over two years since I started tatting again, I only knew how to do rings and that was more than 40 years ago. I will be keeping this one.

  2. So big in size 10! A lovely pattern, you're going to have a wonderful doily for a table. I'm curious to know how much thread are you using.

    1. Ninetta, I have used three balls, working on the fourth now. The thicker thread does not show off the design as nicely as the thinner threads but still a lovely design.

  4. Wow, this is very nice and you are very fast, and this is a big accomplishment for only tatting for a couple years with tatting! I like how you mentioned the size and all information, I should have done that! or I will do that on another post! I like the large size thread but only use it once in a while, it kinda of hurts my hands a little and have to keep stretching them more!

  5. I think this is my third JS doily so I should be comfortable with his patterns but not yet. Thanks for the encouragement. Tatters are the best.
