Thumb Chatelaine

 Quite a few months ago I received a little thumb chatelaine from another tatter.  I loved it and have since adapted the original pattern to make the ring portion more stable by anchoring the split rings with each other. I also added beads to make it more pretty.   I completed this chatelaine using Lizbeth 20 Scottish Thistle

                                 

The original pattern is by Gloria Grumman  with an adaptation by Barbara Hevener.  Many thanks to these designers. 

The thumb chatelaine and the Flowering Quatrain  below along with a few other tatting samples have arrived safely in Australia with my Fringe Exchange recipient.

Lined Zipper Pouch

It's a good thing I take pictures of my crafts because this one has already been gifted.  It is my first lined zipper pouch.

One of the ladies at Tai Chi gave me a few swatches of fabric and some zippers. I watched a few YouTube videos and made up this pouch.  It could easily hold a tatting project but I believe it will be holding charging cables.  I attached a luggage tag to the zipper tab for identification.

I am enjoying sewing more  now that I have caught up with all the pants that need hemming and can move on to more creative projects. 

Sea Breeze Necklace

 

Yes, I have been tatting.  This is another product from my visit to Shuttlebirds 2019 and it is another Marie McCurry design.  She taught this at Shuttlebirds 2019 but you can also find it in her book "Tattasaurusing: Baubles and Motifs.

This book is full of patterns to cover baubles.  The bauble I used is large almost 30 mm across. 

If you haven't guessed it yet, Marie does not like dinosaurs, she loves them. 

Fractal Spiral Earrings

I just don't like to have only one earring done, so I completed the second one at home. These Fractal  Spiral Earrings are the design of Eva Rushton and she taught this class at Shuttlebirds 2019. She plans to sell the pattern on her Etsy site here.  

I just love how the pattern spirals and I can see it looking a bit different with a metallic thread and some beads in just the right place.

These were tatted with a vintage Coats size 30 and measure 1.5 inches or 4 cm from top to bottom so you could make these in a 40 for a smaller version. 

Purple Pansy Pendant

This purple pansy pendant was created  at Shuttlebirds  2019.  The course was taught by Marie of West Pine Creations.  This is also her design/pattern. She calls this tat smithing, it is done using two strands of metallic sewing thread.  The technique of how to cover the pansy bead is different from the popular icedrops  by Diane C.

There was a learning curve using the sewing thread. I pulled too hard and broke one thread, had to add thread at a ring.

Not my best work but I am pleased with the results. I really like how it turned out and the picture does not do it justice. I purchased her books and plan to make some matching earrings.
