Josephine Cross

You may recognize this cross by Ben Fikkert, the pattern can be found on his website here.  I've made it once before but didn't get a chance to  block it before my sister claimed it.  

The cross is done in a vintage size 80 thread, less than half a ball.  The size is 10 x 15 cm or 4 x 6 inches.  I have also added a picture of a close up on the SCMR and Josephine rings.  

It was a cross like this that a coworker brought to the office that rekindled my tatting.  I hope someday this cross may do the same for another.  But before that happens it will be one of the samples that will be in a demo with a local guild next month.

When your sister needs new slippers

I've often told you that I don't sew, well I can't say that anymore.  Recently I completed a few projects that were easy, I made some curtains, I also hemmed up my husbands jeans and made some adult bibs. 

Today I completed these Disney themed slippers for my sister.  They have a terry cloth red outer layer with scraps making up the lining, and sole.  I broke one needle and had to rip out one seam. 

I found the buttons on the front at my local sewing store.  The slippers are quilted with a fake sheepskin inner sole so they should be nice and cozy.

I don't think there will be too many sewing projects as I am still learning with most sewing skills still ahead of me.

Wiosna 2018 Completed

 It took too long but I finally finished this doily started last year.  I was able to climb to each round except one.

I used a King Tut quilting thread by Superior Threads color 918. 

The finished blocked diameter is 12.5 inches or 32 cm. 

Now on to the next unfinished project.

Black Milk Shuttle

I acquire shuttles in a number of ways.  This one was in a package with some England Aero Shuttles I was after on Ebay.  This black Carnation shuttle is my first shuttle with a trademark on it. 

My understanding is that these were given out to promote Carnation  Evaporated Milk in the 1920's.  I've seen pictures of others but they were white shuttles.

I will share some of my other unique shuttles later on the blog.

My task this spring is to clean up some of the unfinished projects in my tatting cupboard.

I have been tatting, I am on the last round of the Wiosna 2018 pattern by Renulek.  I am halfway around.

Metallic Wings

I have used a  Liz metallic comparable to 20 and silver seed beads to do some wings for my larger crystals.  The do sparkle quite a bit more than shown in the photo. 

Keeping on the crystal theme I have completed a second pair of wings using the vintage Coats 30 thread but with silver seed beads added.

I have found that I often tat something at least twice so I always have something to keep,

As I was contemplating what to do next I found some unfinished projects so I am  going to pay some attention to these.  I promise
